12:00 pm Drew Harrison - performs the Lennon part in the Bay Area's premiere Beatles Tribute, The Sun Kings, is a seasoned singer-songwriter who has been inspired and influenced by the ideals of John Lennon. In fact, he recently graduated from UC Berkeley with a degree in Peace and Conflict Studies. Drew sings of the human condition in a warm and gritty voice that embodies sincerity and truth. His music is an acoustic blend of rock, folk, and blues that inspires one to groove as well as ponder. 1:15 pm Inner Light-Aletha Zsido & Jack Quiqley - Music inspired by a merging of Eastern & Western spiritual traditions. They perform every Wednesday night at the Oakland Center for Spiritual Living. Aletha enjoys singing anything from jazz & rock to opera. She sang with the Agape International Choir, wrote bhajans & led kirtan at Prema Drala Ashram for 5 years. Jack(vocals, guitar, harmonica) has been playing and writing music (ranging from folk to punk) for over 30 years performing everywhere from the Kennedy Center, festivals, clubs, churches, coffeehouses to a laundrymat! Diana Rae & Susan Henning - - Diana Rae and Susan Henning are Roses, two seasoned SF Bay Area musicians who play guitar and sing top hits from the 60s through the 90s. 6:30 pm Jack Chernos - Jack Chernos - Jack plays rousing, inspiring punk/folk banjo songs of social justice at rallies, protests and pickets around the Bay Area. Jack has written songs of historical significance, including the anti-WTO song played from the Steelworkers' billboard truck in Seattle, the theme song of the Million Worker March on Washington, and a song inducted into the National Civil Rights Museum. Jack will also lead a sing-along of "All You Need is Love" each evening dedicated to Allen Cohen, poet, hummanitarian, peace activist and publisher of the San Francisco Oracle. 11:30 am Jagadamba - Jagadamba (The Mother of the Universe) came together in 2007 to provide Song and Spirit for those who wish to listen. Comprised of Philip Evan Cowlishaw (Prem Daas), a former Opera Singer, Amber Field (Shakti), a multi-instrumentalist, and Kate Ramsey (Kamala), a yoga teacher and culturist. Philip, Amber, and Kate bring humor, wisdom, and soul to their performances. The Monterey Festival of Love marks their debut event. Om Jai Ma! Philip was an aspiring actor and opera singer for over 15 years before fully turning his attention over to Spirituality and Service. A lover of God and self-proclaimed mystic, Prem Daas loves singing to The Spirit of The One with the help of his harmonium. He currently resides at The Medicine Buddha Temple in the Mission District of San Francisco. Amber is a world fusion multi-instrumentalist who sings, plays tabla, esraj, didgeridoo, Arabic tambourine, and djembe for different projects including kirtan, devotional services, band performances, and special events. A global nomad, she studied Indian classical music in India for 3 years, speaks Hindi, and has lived in Korea, France, Liberia, and Borneo. Kate loves to study cultures through immersion in music, language, movement, and dance. She is a yoga teacher who incorporates Sanskrit chanting in her work, and she studies and performs Brazilian and Haitian dance, song, and percussion. Celebrating the 40th anniversary of all the iconic music events of 1967. Two days of Peace, Love, Music and History. 1967 was an incredible year for Rock ‘n’ Roll. It was the Summer of Love. Flower Power and the San Francisco Sounds were in full bloom. The Beatles released Sgt. Peppers, The Doors 'Light My Fire' had burned up the charts and in a small arena on the beautiful Monterey peninsula the infamous Monterey International Pop Festival proved to be magical. We hope to bring another prolific event to the 75 million Baby Boomers who lived that monumental year by presenting a 40th anniversary celebration and concert. The Monterey Summer of Love Festival.
